B. Braun Kenya expands Production Capacity for IV-Fluids in Nairobi
Over the past 12 months the world has witnessed costs of energy and raw materials increasing dramatically. Global supply chains have been disrupted and costs of sea- and airfreight have surged by 500-1,000%. In the light of these skyrocketing freight costs many importers have recently stopped the importation of bulky commodities (like IV-Fluids) which cannot provide a viable business to them any longer. Other distributors have informed hospitals and health institutions of massive price increases.
B. Braun Kenya has decided to counteract the current crisis in a different way. As a local producer of IV-Fluids that have become a scarce commodity all over East Africa we have invested in larger machinery and expanded our factory in Athi River EPZ. After three months of construction works the factory has now re-opened, producing more IV-Fluids and Eye/ Ear drops than ever.
As a local producer we can now offer a reliable supply of products at attractive prices, as we do not need to factor in costs of sea freight. B. Braun strives at protecting and improving the health of all people in East Africa. With our recent investment in Kenya, we show how we live up to this vision.
